About Us

Each year, we gather to decorate our bikes (brooms), dress up in our wicked best witch-ware and raise money for the Achievement Centers for Children and Families.

Our annual Halloween charity bike ride occurs on the last Saturday in October. Our route includes historic downtown Delray, Atlantic Avenue, A1A and ends at the Delray Beach Green Market. At the end of our flight, we have contests for “Best Decorated Bike”, “Best Witch Costume” and “Best Witch Cackle”.

Charity funds are raised through rider fees for the event as well as various fund raising activities leading up to the event.  Please explore our web site to learn more about our charity group and sign up to join the fun.

  • Sign up for our mailing list. The list is fairly quiet during the year but gets much more active as we get closer to the ride.

We're only two days away from our 5th Annual Witch Ride to support the Achievement Centers for Children & Families!
Are you ready? Here are some rider tips to help ensure you are prepared.
* Wow your neighbors and test drive your bike fully decorated. Are the decorations safe and do not interfere with safe bicycle operation?
* Is your costume bicycle friendly? Wind could blow your costume into moving parts. Make sure nothing can get caught in the spokes, chain and otherwise interfere with safe operation of the bike.
* Is your hat tied down? It’s hard to keep both hands on the handlebars if you’re holding your hat down. If you missed our hat grommet station at the fundraiser, you can cut small holes in your hat right above your ears. Take a 36 inch length of string (ribbon, shoe lace, etc), loop it around the top front of the hat and drop both ends through the holes. This gives you a way to “tie it down”. Better yet, mount your hat to a bicycle helmet and let the helmet strap keep you safe and hold it down. Alpha witch secures a small hat to her bicycle helmet with small zip-ties.
* Have you seen and reviewed the route map and do you know where we’re starting?
* If you rode with us last year, do you know we’re meeting at a new location?
* Do you know what time to be there? (Hint: 7:45 AM Saturday October 29th, 2016).
* Have you read the rider rules?
Find all these answers and more by visiting, witchesofdelray.org/latest-ride-information-posts/
* And please remember to bring water! We have a six mile route with no water stops. There will be restrooms at the starting and ending points and water provided after the ride so please bring water to stay hydrated during the ride.

People ask me all the time about "bad witches" I gotta say, in all my travels on the broom I've not met a bad one yet! The Witches of Delray are no exception.. Creative and kind, gracious and so very generous. Just look what we've done this year!
This year the fundraiser raised $3,153 the Achievement Centers for Children & Families. Once again the witches and their friends have outdone themselves and exceeded the previous years fundraiser amount "witch" (hehe) was $2,096. Combined with riders who have pre-registered, we’ve already exceeded last year’s grand total and we still have more riders to register!! This witch is excited!! And insanely proud! I love you all and I can't wait to FLY with you on Saturday! Stay tuned for more details!!

What are you feeling this year witches? Is your broom tricked out with all the bells and whistles? Is your costume a show stopping spell caster? Can you raise the dead with the best cackle of the coven?

Whatever your poison, show your spirit at the Delray Beach Green Market after our ride and compete for the best bling you’ll wear all season!

The contests are held after the ride and group photo / check presentation at the Delray Beach Green Market. Even if you don’t plan on entering this years contests for Best Broom (bike), Costume or best Witch Cackle, it is a fun event to watch and you’ll get to vote and cheer for your favorite witches.

We’ve brought in Delray’s highest authorities of witch style and spirit! And we are proud to announce this year’s panel of judges. Joining us this year:

Returning Judge Amanda Perna Strul of the The House of Perna.
First time judge Jestena Boughton of the Colony Hotel & Cabaña Club.
First time judge Matthew B Farmer – Artistic Director at Old School Square.
Emceeing our event will be Robert Geller of Atlantic Commercial Group, Inc.
These community members know style…they know class….and they know shenanigans! So pull out your “witchy” best, see what kind of bedlam we can create, support the Achievement Centers for Children & Families and find out if you’re a good witch or a bad ass witch!
